LADIES’ ASSOCIATION

The president. Miss D. P. Brodie, presided at a W4Ur flttended meeting of the Christchurch Ladies' cycling and Touring Association held at the Young Womens Christian Association last evening. Correspondence was received from the Cyclists' Touring Club, Wellington; and one from Mrs Kitty p'Sulliyan (the cycling grandmother) and Mr -C. F. Bennett, enclosing a draft set of rules, for touting organisations# as wonosea by the National Cycling Union, England. It was unanimously decided to appoint Miss M. F. Kiddey, Young Women’s Christian Association, honorary secretary of the association, in place of. Mrs H. D. London, who had been occupying the office temporarily since the formation of the association. , - ■ : ~ _ A sub-committee was appointed to draw up the constitution of the association. It was decided thst the following points -must, however, be included in tee rules, i,e., when on tour* always travel two abreast and on no account pass the captain, the vice-captain to be .in the rear of the party; association costume and colours to be worn only on official occasions, such as outings and meetings; subscriptions to be paid within one month from date of joining, membership to be for 12 months from date of. joining. It was decided that the next outing of the association would take place at 2 p.m., from the Young Women’s Christian Association, on Saturday; February 22.

During the evening. MissE. Lawn, who has just returned from a six weeks’ cycle tour of -New Zealand, gave an interesting talk on her experience, including some useful hints for those about to make a tour. At the conclusion it was unanimously decided to elect Miss Lawn an honorary member of the association, together with Mrs Kitty O'Sullivan: and Miss Nita Rosslyn.
