CONVENIENCE OF PATRONS STUDIED

When the firm of Midland Motorways Services, Ltd., moves into its new bus station at 29 Lichfield street next Wednesday, the city will have not only an up-to-date transport service depot, but a handsome addition to its architecture. ; Built at a cost of £6OOO, the station will house thp. Midland Motorways fleet, will contain an up-to-date workshop, and will provide a parking area for private cars on Friday and Saturday evenings in the centre of the city. . Midland Motorways have found it necessary to build this large new station because of the great increase in their business.- With nine buses, the depot in . Durham street has become much too small, but the spaciousness the new building will overcome many difficulties which the fim has had to contend with in the last, year ; or go. Modem Building The new building will have its main entrance in Lichfield street, but there will also be access from Cashel street through Plymouth lane, just west of Ballantyne’s. An imposing facade, Which will carry a 22 feet Neon sign, has bOen built in Lichfield street over 0 22 feot wide door. There are also two doors into Plymouth lane, each being-22 feet .wide. The total area of the station is 60 by 225 feet In one Comer, there will be a tyre and battery service store run by Midland Motorways, and In the other a shop tun by. Marldon, Ltd.
