The oldest woman in England, Mrs Caroline Marriott, aged 110, died recently in the Mayday Hospital. Thornton Heath. Mrs Marriott celebrated her one hundred and tenth birthday in the hospital in October, when she gave a tea party to the other patients. Born at Tooting Corner 10 years after Waterloo, Mrs Marriott remembered the Crimean War, the Corn Law riots, and the coronation of Queen Victoria. SKe was married twice, and her second husband died in 1906. She worked in a laundry until she was 85.
