JUNIOR TENNIS TEAM

v* tux mutob o» t«»- ros». Sir,—As a keen tennis enthusiast for the last 15 years I should like to be informed why Ivan Corich was not included in the New Zealand junior tennis team to visit Australia. For the last three years I have watched the progress of these juniors with the greatest of interest, and up to the present Pattinson has not succeeded in beating Corich once. Nor is he within four places of Corich on the Canterbury ranking list. Gunn, another member of the team, has also been beaten by Corich. As there must be reasons for Corich s exclusion from the team, I am sure an explanation would be greatly appreciated by tennis enthusiasts throughout Canterbury.—Yours, etc., SEND THE BEST, February'l3, 1&36. >

TO THI EDITOE Of THK PBEBB. Sir,—l would like to express my views regarding the junior tennis team to visit Australia. Why is Pattinson included in this team and I. J. Corich left out? A glance at the Canterbury men's ranking list should satisfy any fair-minded person that Corich is by iar the superior player. Corich ranks seventh man, whereas Pattinson is twelfth, and in any match where these two have met, Pattinson has never yet been the winner. • . In provincial tourneys Corich has always proved himself a good player. He was twice Canterbury junior champion, once New Zealand junior champion, while at this year's New Year tournament, held at Timaru, he was runner-up to H. A. Barnett (who won by only a narrow margin) in the South Canterbury senior championship. -Again, in the case of Gunn, the Auckland player included in the team, Corich has proved a superior player, as he, Gunn, was the other finalist the year Gorich won the New Zealand junior championship. Trusting Corich will havor a "fair go" in future. — Yours, etc., DISGUSTED. February 13, 1936.
