Canadian, estimates, which were tabled in the House of Commons to-day. The defence vote is 13,377,000 dollars for the navy and army, with 5,000,000 dollars for aviation, including 1,000,000 dollars increase: for the Royal Air Force. • The total sum of the main estimates is 364,000,000 dollars, a decrease of 12,000,000 dollars. The Minister for Finance (Mr C. Dunning) announced an 800,000,000 dollar bond issue of the Canadian National Railways, divided into 2 per cent, seven year bonds and v 3 per cent 17 year refunding bonds. The purpose is to save 2,500,000 dollars a year. IMPERIAL DEFENCE GRANT FROM FIJI . (Received February 12, 8.30 p.m.) SUVA, February 12. The Legislative Council of Fiji in November an annual grant of £SOOO towards 'lmperial defence. The “Fiji Times,” in an : editorial, suggests the making of a special grant from surplus funds of £ 10,000 in view of the prepent circumstances of the Empire. It is believed that r the proposal will meet with the approval of the elected members.
