WAIBBWA

The Wairowa County Council held lt& monthly meeting at Little JUyer. Those present were; Mr F. Coop (chairman), Crs. W. U- Montgomery, E. J--Keenan, T. Feather, J. V. Chapman. N. Wright, and W. Parkinson. A resolution was passed expressing the grief of members of the council at the death of King George V« wd affirming their loyalty to King Edward VIII, his successor. Stuart, and W. Rent waited on the board and complained that as a result of the blocking of the creek around the Maori pa, the flood waters had overflowed the paddocks opposite the station and flooded the main road and a number of houses on it, They asked that the council should take some action to clear this river and if possible to make a number of cuts to allow it to flow freely. It was stated that the river flowed through native land over which the council had no jurisdiction, It was resolved to .write to the Minister for Native Affairs asking that the Government should carry out the work for the natives.
