BUSINESS ASSOCIATION AT NEW BRIGHTON
ARRANGEMENTS MADE FOR BEACH RACES
A meeting of the executive of the New Brighton Business Association was held in the Beresford Hall, New Brighton, last evening, with the president (Mr D. A. Clarke) presiding. Those also present were: Messrs G. W. Weavers, W. P. Nolan, B. McCormick, L. W. Pepperell, and H. Seppings Mitchell (secretary).
Representatives of the committee of the New Brighton District High School waited upon the executive to discuss arrangements for the annual borough picnic. It was decided that the association should lend its assistance to any picnic scheme, without committing itself financially, provided that it was consulted about the date and place.
The meeting was attended by members of the committee of the Pioneer Sports Club, and arrangements were completed for the beach races to be held at New Brighton on February 15. U was decided to start the races on the beach opposite the cenotaph, and to install a sound system for announcements and music. Adequate arrangements were made to patrol the course for protection of the public. Mr C a. cooper was appointed chief stewar^wit^. Mr w - Queree as assistant. The chairman reported that through the Business Association, Mr McCormick and the Apex Ice Cream CornUS h /l offer ed to give a trophy for each of the races.
