JUBILEE BALL

To renew friendships formed 60 years ago has been the experience of several of the former pupils of the Richmond School, who have been attending the diamond jubilee celebrations of the school held this week. A church parade will be held on Sunday, but the final social function arranged by the jubilee committee was a ball held at the Winter Garden last night, and the guests had the pleasure of dancing or sitting in the lounge exchanging reminiscences of school life. Iceland poppies and summer flowers had been effectively arranged in the vestibule and lounge. Members of the organising committee were Mr H. B. Kay, jun. (chairman), Mrs J. Petrie,- Miss Kathleen Read,Messrs'A. Wildey, G. Gulliford, W. Bishop, R. Harrison, H. Flesher, C. W. Allard, J. J. Rowe, Risman, L. A. Poulson, R. Lilly, W. H. Simpson (secretary), and A. Martin (assistant secretary)

Music was supplied by the EvansCampbell orchestra, and interest was added to the evening’s programme by demonstrations of tap dancing given by June and Douglas Shepherd, Amongst those present were Miss M. J, Harper (a first day pupil), and her sister, Miss J. L, Harper. Mesdames H. B. Kay, H. J. Middlemiss (formerly of Shanghai), W. Peacock, W. H. Simpson, E. J. Purchass, A. Shepherd, M. Shaw, Shona Lamb, Violet Wilson, Joan Suckling, Nancy Hookhaip, Mollie Percy, Hirji Rowland, Colleen Tallott, Eileen Kerr, Lillian Harper, and Jessie Gallagher.
