Anniversary Day services. Picnic at Corsair Bay The annual picnic of the Southbridge School was held at Corsair Bay yesterday in extremely hot weather. The number of children and adults present was 425. Harbour Light Theatre “All the King’s Horses,” which will be screened at the. Harbour Light Theatre this afternoon and evening and. on Monday evening, is a gay and tuneful romantic comedy about a king who had to take lessons in love to hold his charming wife. The cast is headed by Carl Brisson, Mary Ellis, and Edward Everett Horton, and there are several captivating song numbers. The short subjects include a musical number, a variety film, a Paramount Pictorial, and a British and International newsreel. School Fair The fair in aid of the funds of the Lyttelton District High School was opened at the school yesterday afternoon, and was continued in the evening. The attendance in the afternoon was not large, due probably to the extreme heat, but there was a large attendance of the public in the evening. Displays of drill and exercises were given by the senior pupils and, in the schoolrooms there was an interesting exhibition of school work. Several large stalls, a refreshment counter, and a tea-room did good business during the afternoon and evening. This afternoon a fancy dress parade and a baby show will be held. School Sports The annual sports for pupils of the primary department of the Lyttelton District High School for the Old Boys’ Shield have been held during the week, the winner being Charles Barnes, 17 points. L. Quested, with 10 points, was second. Results were as follows: —50 yards swimming: C. Barnes 1, T. Cave 2, E. Allen 3. Dive: C. Barnes 1. T. Cave 2, E. Allen 3. 100 yards running: L. Quested 1, N. The Hamilton Shield, for girls, awarded for sports and domestic subjects, was won by Marie Gillard, 12 ooints, Nona Madden, with 10 points, being second.
