WOMEN AT LINCOLN COLLEGE

TO TUB EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir, —There have been several letters in the columns of “The Press” expressing opinions for and against the admission of girls to Lincoln College, a project being sponsored by the Women’s Division of . the Farmers’ Union and the Federation of Women’s Institutes. In one of these letters, information as to the nature of such a course was asked for; hence this reply. We hope that dairying, poultrykeeping, beekeeping, gardening, and elementary veterinary science would be included in the course. We hope, too, that subjects dealing directly with home-making, such as cookery, jam.making, bottling of fruits, the proper and economic use of electric apparatus, and certain branches of home crafts would also be included. Our intention is that, should such a course be made possible in time to come, experts should advise us as to the compiling of a syllabus that will make a direct appeal to country girls and many city girls as well. Certain helpful suggestions have already been made, of which wo may yet .avail ourselves. We know there are many obstacles in front of us, and as we do not wish to be aggressive in any . way, matters can only move slowly.—Yours, etc., JEAN NUTT, Provincial President, Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. Motukarara, December 13, 1935.
