The Pickwick Club, Motunau, holds competitions at its meetings. Last week the competition was for the best flower from a member's own garden. This competition was won by Betty Blogg. Motunau members are evidently keen gardeners. HALF-PENNY AFTERNOONS Bill Young, Worcester street, continues holding his "Half-penny Afternoons" with great success. Another batch of halfpennies reached Lady Gay this week. The money will be spent on gifts for boys. Well done, Bill! Here is news from Motunau. Members of the club there recently organised a sweet stall, at the school, and collected 3s. Another sweet stall is to be arranged, and then the money raised wilf be sent *9 Lady Gay for the Mission. Good work, Motunau! ■ , Hawarden is active. There are to be senior and junior clubs there. Diana Power writes that the junior members are thinking of (falling themselves "Bluebirds." A very good name, Diana. The Bluebirds, too, will have grown-up help. The Merry Muddlers is a new club which has been formed at Hororata. The leader is Daphne McKenzie, and the secretary, :Neita Lawson. The members are Joan Shellock, Joyce Hore, Elma Paintin. Doris Barrett, Edna Wells, Neta McKenzie, Joan Oliver, Betty Oliver, June Oliver, Frances' Gray, Betty Tocker, Ida Gray, Gladys Howe and Gwyneth Owen. The club is fortunate in having the help of a grown-up friend, and good work will be done.
