FULL-TIME WORK REFUSED
MEN WILL NOT GO INTO COUNTRY Not one of the 200 unemployed men working for the Heathcote County Council under the No. 5 Scheme is willing to go into the country for fulltime work at standard rates of pay. The council at its meeting last evening received a letter from the certifying officer of the Employment Bureau asking for a statement of the number of men working under the No. 5 Scheme who would accept fulltime work in the country at standard The county clerk (Mr J. P. E. Veale) reported that an enquiry had been made by the foremen in the various ridings and not one man had been willing to accept the work. Mr C. Flavell: Perhaps the men like the No. 5 system. Mr J. F. Scott: Well, we have carried out the officer's request. i It was decided to inform the certifying officer of the men's attitude.
