; vAMBERLEY CLUB '•" The annual meeting of the Amberley Tennis Club was held in the Amberley Lib - rary. Mr A. A. Holland presided. The report stated that the last season had been a successful'one, the membership being 50, as compared with 29 for the previous ' season. , The senior team, finished equal third in the North Canterbury ; SuVAssociation's competition, whilst the' junior team won four of its matches. The winners of the club championships were: —-Women's senior, Miss W. Martyn; Junior sMiss B. Symonds; men's senior, W. Wade; junior, A. Ford. Miss Hallinan. and R. Harris won both singles and doubles in the Kowai county championships, and Miss.. Hallinan was a member of the sub-association representative team. Beginning with a debit balance of £5 10s 6d lust year, the club had during the' last season' spent £220 and had throe concrete courts on its own property. Tho principal items of expenditure were interest ■W3 Binding fund £3l 6s and construction and fencing £lB2 16s Id. Membership fees totalled £26, and social gatherings brought in the sum of £36 10s. Nineteen new members were elected for the ensuing year, making the total mem bership 61.
