CHRISTCHURCH YESTERDAY'S TRANSACTIONS

Government ' New Zealand Government, 4 per cent. Bonds, due 1955, had business at £ll2 2s 6d, and further buyers at £ll2 5s failed to attract sellers. A late sale of Lyttelton Harbour Board 53 per cent, debentures, due 1953. on Wednesday, was reported at £lO9. Commercial Efenk of Australia shares were easier with dealings at 16s 7d and 16s 6d, and further sellers at the higher price, buyers at 16s sd. English, Scottish, and Australian Bank shares declined to £5 9s, and there were further s "Iters at that figure, buyers at £5 Bs. Bank of New Zealand appeared easier, with business at 51s, and further sellers at 50s lid, buyers at 50s lOd. Reserve Banks were weaker with sellers and at £6 10s 3d, buyers at £6 9s Cd. South British Insurance changed hands at 945. Goldsbrough, Morts were easier, with sellers at 31s 9d, buyers at 31s 6d. Dalgety and Company were firmer on buyers' offers £8 lis. New Zealand Refrigerating, fully paid, were firm with buyers and business at 20s Bd, sellers at 20s 9d—the 10s paid had business at 9s lOd, buyers staying In at that price, sellers at 10s. Breweries New Zealand Breweries appeared easier with dealings at 51s lid and 51s lOd, and further sellers at 51s lid, buyers at 51s Bd. Tooth's Brewery shares were firm with sellers and business at 555, buyers at 54s 9d. Anthony Hordern had dealings at IBs 4d and 19s 6d, market closing 19s 2d buyers, 19s 4d sellers. Australian Iron and Steel, preference, were firm at 25s 6d. Broken Hill Proprietary dropped to 65s 6d, and more were offered at 65s 9d, buyers at 655. Dunlop Perdriau Rubbers were easier at prices ranging from 14s lid to 14s 4d, and more were offered at 14s sd, buyers at 14s 3d. A late sale of Hay's, Limited, 15s paid, on Wednesday, was reported at 17s 3d., and yesterday's quotations were 9d on either side. New Zealand Newspapers were fractionally weaker at 39s sd. Sellers of Wilson's Cements reduced their limits to 41s 3d, buyers at 395. Mining Bendigo Goldlights Jhad dealings at 3£d and 4d, buyers staying in at the higher price, sellers at 4£d. Golden Sands were fractionally firmer, with buyers and business at 2s Bd, sellers at 2s 9± Mount Mor s ans, cum dividend, relapsed to 38s 6d. and there were further sellers at that figure, buyers at 37s 6d. Sellers of Mount Lyells reduced their limits to 18s 6d, buyers at 18s. Unlisted Stocks Argo Gold Dredging were a shade easier with sellers and business at Is Id, buyers at Is 6|& Woolworths (Sydney), ordinary, were weaker, with sellers at £5 lis 6d, buyers at £5 9s 3d.
