EARLIER RATES NOT MAINTAINED JAPAN STILL A KEEN BUYER (UKITKD POTSS ASSOCIATION—COPIStGKT.) SYDNEY, September 12. At the wool sales to-day 12,525 bales were offered, 11,079 were sold, and 657 disposed of privately. Compared with the opening rates, prices are now par to 5 per cent, lower for all the best fleece and skirtings, and 5 to 10 per cent, lower for good to average lots, „ and 10 per cent lower for inferior' descriptions. ~ Keen competition still prevails. The Japanese are most prominent, with fair support from the Continent and Yorkshire.
