NATIONAL BUILDING SCHEME
NEW SCHOOLS AND HOUSES (FEE3a ASSOCIATION TEIEGRAU.) HASTINGS, June 21. An announcement that before long there would be a prospect of a national scheme of •• remodelling and reconstructing schools, as well as a major house-building project in the main centres of the Dominion, was made by Mr G. Maddison, chairman of the Hawke's Bay Education Board, at its monthly meeting to-day.
Mr Maddison said from what he had heard at Wellington there was every reason to believe that there would be considerable expenditure for school construction and reconstruction. Ke said the Government would probably be embarking upon a major scheme of house-building, similar to that in England. Members expressed approval of the suggested scheme.
