The decision was arrived at after tae board had considered a report by consulting engineers on the Waimea > area's supply and estimated capital costs of, and revenue from, the proposed expenditure of loan moneys. The chairman of the power board, Mr Herbert Everett, at the meeting, made reference to the high tariff charged by the city council for its supply to the Stoke and Tahuna districts; and moved the following motion: "That in view of the advanced staga of the negotiations for a bulk supply, representations be again made to the Nelson City Council for a reduction in tariff for electric supply to Stoka and Tahuna, pending the supply being available from the Cobb river development." Mr Everett said that the board was paying at the rate of £3B a kilowatt for the supply, or 3.14 d a unit, and he thought that in view of the early settlement of the negotiations for the Cobb Valley supply, the council would relieve the board by granting a substantial reduction. The motion was seconded by Mr F. W. Greenslade and carried. Council's Decision The city council last night decided that the electric light committee mept the lower board to discuss the request for reduced charges.
