Association Football The fifth grade team to play Western, at Sumner, at 1.30 p.m. to-day, is as follows:—Cook (3), Whykes, Wethey, Bailey, Telfer, Commusky, and Mortimer (3). St. Albans, to be played on St. Leonard's square at 2.45 p.m. The referee for this match is Mr J. Cawtheray. Votes of Sympathy At a recent meeting of the RedclifTs School Committee a vote of sympathy was passed with the relatives of Mrs E. R. McCombs and Mr W. H. Banks. A resolution of sympathy was also passed with Mr and Mrs Bond, Pratt street, in their recent, bereavement. Bowls The RodciifTs Bowling Club, which had k most successful season last year, will hold its annual meeting in the pavilion on Monday evening. St. John's Literary Society At the weekly meeting of the St. John's Literary Society, Redcliffs, the Rev. H. K. Bellhouse lectured on "Early Christianity in the South Island." Next week the anniversary tea meeting will be held. On the following Sunday tho church anniversary will be celebrated by special services. Redcliffs Queen Carnival Five distinct committees; have been formed to obtain support for the queen carnival at .ledcliffs, and each is working hard to return its representative. Several social functions have been planned, and next Tuesday a hard-up social will be held at the school. To record the position of the different queens, a ''barometer" will bo erected in the township and a system of coloured Hags will be used (it the school. Bridge Evening To raise funds for the local branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association, the women's auxiliary of the SumnerRedcliffs sub-braivh organised a bridge party held in the club rooms. Returned Soldiers' Church Parade Tho member. 1 ! of the Sumner-Hed-cliffs branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association attended their annual church parade last Sunday at tho Stunner Presbyterian Church. There wy; a large attendance of members, the preacher being their padre, the Rev W. Rutland Martin. In spite Of the wintry weather, tho members held their fortnightly dance in their rooms on Wednesday evening. The members! have received an invitation to attend the first of this year's meetings of the Sumner Forensic Club which will be held in the council j chambers on Tuesday next
