EPIDEMICS
Epidemics and Crowd Diseases. By M<-,Jor Grremvocd, li.Sc, F.R.C.P., F.R.S. Williams and Norgate. 400 pp. (21/- net.) This magnum opus of the president of the Royal Statistical Society —very, properly he calls it an introduction—deals in two sections, first with the general principles of epidemiology and methods of study, and second, with special illustrations. The part devoted to general principles is treated historically so that anyone interested in the history of ideas may read it with interest. The special illustrations are Dr. Greenwood's enquiries into what is for certain known about the causation and efficacy of treatment of such diseases as typho.'d fever, measles, influenza, venereal diseases, tuberculosis, cancer and so on.
