Those who took part consisted of men drawn from two squadrons of the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry and Ihe 10th Battery. The unpleasant conditions, with a bitterly cold south-wester sweeping across the open park and bringing squalls of rain and sleet, no doubt accounted for the very small attendance 1 of the public. 'lhe men were drawn from A Squadron (North Canterbury) and B Squadron ' Ashburton). These, in preparation for the celebrations, went into camp on Friday at the Addinglon Show Grounds. Camp will be broken this afternoon. The cavalry unit rode from the Show Grounds to Hagley Park, joining the 10th Battery there, which came from the King Edward Barracks. This action is the result o£ widely expressed and adverse criticism among citizens oC the likeness of the portraits, which, if is felt, are far from being faithful representations of their Majesties. The first move was made by the Chief Postmaster, Mr F. VV. Furby, who on Saturday ordered the removal of the portraits above the cast entrance to the Chief Post Office. Last night similar action was taken about the portraits on the Government buildings and on the Supreme Court. The decorations were in the hands of the Public Works Department.
