The May number of Weldon's Bazaar of Children r s Fashions, printed throughout in photogravure, is larger than previous issues of this journal and much improved in con-1 tents and make-up. It contains a | fine portrait, specially printed in full colour of their Majesties King. George and Queen Mary in coronation robes. Free patterns of everyday dress and school i'rocK. for a girl of seven years of age, a child's playtime dress, and a little girl's dress with frills, are given free with each copy. The IG-page fashion supplement will be found invaluable, and variety is introduced in the enlarged sections devoted to mothercraft and to com-mon-sense cookery. When the women's golf season opened at Wentworth, England, the players managed to solve the problem of looking gay and spring'-like, and at the same time keeping out the bitter March winds. Most of them wore sleeveless leather jackets over bright woollen sweaters, with bright-coloured socks to match. Miss Mervyn Barton, sister of Pam Barton, holder of the French championship, wore scarlet mittens and a sugar-stick striped scarf of scarlet and white, and some of the competitors who visited the States last year sported the American type of "wind-breaker" jumper in suede. The March number of "Good Housekeeping" is a particularly interesting and attractive journal, containing much wisely chosen fiction, a we'll balanced section devoted to cookery, housecraft, and fashions and 10 special articles by wellknown writers. There are five short stories, one by Shiela Kaye-Smith and one by Nigel Balchin, and an instalment of a serial story by Joanna Cannan. The special articles include one written by the Countess of Oxford and Asquith, her subject being "I wish I had been a man," one by St. John Ervine on "Gertrude Lawrence" and three unusual articles, all well written—"l want my daughters to marry," written by William F. McDermoU, "Shall I stay in my Generation?" and "Preparing to be an old Lady." The magazine is well got up and generously illustrated. FOR SAFE SLIMMING.
