STEADY FACE OVER LONG TRAILS

FAST PACKS SETTLING DOWN TO TRAINING

A little more wisdom governed the energies of cross-country packs on Saturday afternoon. After the first outings and unofficial trials of speed during the previous week-end the last packs settled down to their training, maintaining a steady pace over fairly solid trails. Fewer of the racing men extended' themselves this week, and some more promising material was brought to light. . . The University Club, at Us official opening run, over six miles in Addington, Riccarton, Fendalton, and Wharenui had three very full packs on the trail, and a fairly even though easy pace was maintained all the way. Leaders of the 1934 racing team were out again, but all took the run easily. The club still has A. T. Shannon and L. D. J Smith of its 1934 team, and although it has lost some of its most useful runners, its membership necessarily a floating one. has been brought up to strength again by the entry of a large number of new members.
