The first meeting of the Christchurch Accountant Students' Society | was held at the Chamber of Commerce Hall. Mr Turner Smith presided over a large attendance, and welcomed Professor A. H. The speaker traced inflation from 3000 years ago in China, the downfall of Rome and Spain, and the inflation in England, especially the postwar period, showing the effect of the inflation upon the participants and non-participants in the war and its effect on the financial position of the country and the moral conditions of the people. The speaker, after replying to several questions, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The next meeting of the society will be on Monday, May 13, when the speaker will be Mr C. L. Rollo, who I will takfe as his subject, "The Eco- ' nomics of Advertising."
