WELLINGTON PRICES At the Wellington sale <*J**J*J2 and hides on Friday there was keen competition. Sheepskins were in go*a demand at prices slightly higher than those current at last sale. Hides were keenly sought by both tanners and exporters, showing a general advance 01 a farthing in most weights, medium weight ox advancing three-eightnsol a penny for best grades.. KiP »na yearling, which were bringing very high prices last sale, receded somewhat by a farthing to three-eighths 01 a penny. Calf were firm at last sale's level. There was a strong enquiry for tallow in shipping parcels. The range of prices is as follows:Dry Sheepskins—Halfbred, 5d to 7£d; fine crossbred, 5d to 7£d; medium crossbred, 4£d to 6jd; coarse crossbred, 4d to s}d; half wools, 2{d to ssd; quarter wools. 2Jd to sd; pelts, 2Jd to 4d. Salted Skins—Half wools, 2s 6d. Hides—Ox, 331b to 441b, Ud to 4sd; 451b to 521b. 3*d to s§d; 531b to 591b, sid to 6f'd; 601b to 691b, 6£d to 7£d; 701b and over. 6Jd to 7 J ,d. AUCTION AT TIMARU Approximately 28,000 sheepskin* were offered at auction in Timaru on Friday, when there was a full bench of buyers. The sale was an excellent one, short wools in particular being in demand. All classes, however, showed a hardening. The range of prices was as follows: Per lb d. d. Halfbred — Full wool .. 7 to 9 Threequarterbred— Full wool .. 5J to 7 J Crossbred — Full wool .. 5 to 6| Merino — Full wool . . 71 to 3J Halfbred and threequarterbred merino 4J to Gi, Halfbred hoggets to 7J Threequarterbred hoggets - to 6f Cross hoggets to 6 LONDON MARKETS FIRM (IiHITISU OTFICIik WIEELESS.) (Received May 5, 7.5 p.m.) RUGBY, May 3, Stock markets showed a good tone, but business was small. British Government stock was higher, with War Loan 3A per cent, at £lO6 Is 3d. Home Industrials were firm.
