ANZAC DAY.

——-♦ MEMORIAL SERVICES TOMORROW ANNIVERSARY OF LANDING AT GALLIPOLI To-morrow, Anzac Day, will be the twentieth anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli. Throughout New Zealand services will be held to commemorate the gallantry and sacrifice of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps on April 25, 1915, and the months that followed, on Gallipoli. In Christchurch the parade and cmzens' memorial service will fc>e neia as usual in the King Edward Barracks. The address will be given by Mr B. J. Jacobs, president of the Palmerston North Returned Soldiers' Association, and a district vice-president of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers Association. The choir of the Christchurch association, under the baton of Mr V. C. Peters, will lead the singing, and will also sing the anthem, "Ring Out, Wild Bells." The association's orchestra will play the music. Members of the clergy who will take part in the service will be the Bishop of Christchurch, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Campbell West-Watson, and the Revs. F. T. Read, W. Grigg, F. Lawrence, A McNeur, and O. Williams. The Mayor of Christchurch, Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., will preside. Provision has been made to seat about 5000 persons in the barracks, and special accommodation has been reserved for the next-of-kin of dead soldiers and representatives of local bodies. A collection to defray the cost of the service will be made.

The Parade The Returned Soldiers' Association is particularly anxious that all returned soldiers should appear in the parade this year, Mr E. F. Willcox, the secretary, §aid yesterday. Dress will be mufti and medals. All those intending to parade are asked to attend at Cranmer square not later than 1.45 p.m. The parade will move off at 2 p.m., and the service will start at 2.30 p.m. The parade will be headed by the gun-carriage and firing party, foliowed by wreath-bearers, South African war veterans, former Imperial soldiers, former Australian soldiers, members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, in order of regiments as follows:—Mounted rifles, artillery, engineers and signallers, infantry,. Rifle Brigade, Army Service Corps, Medical Corps, women's auxiliary forces, the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, territorial units, and senior cadets.

City bands will take up positions in the procession, and will play during the march to the barracks. The route will be along Kilmore street to Colombo street, through Cathedral square to Cashel street, and along Cashel street to the barracks. A halt will be made at the Bridge of Remembrance while a wreath of poppies from the Returned Soldiers' Association is laid. The whole parade, with the exception of the cadets, will enter the barracks for the service. After the service the returned soldiers on parade will march to Cathedral square via Cambridge terrace and Worcester street, headed by the wreath-bearers. The wreaths will be received at the Cathedral, and placed on the stands made for them.

Services arranged by the Papanui and Lin wood sub-committees of the Returned Soldiers' Association will be held at 10.30 a.m., in the Memorial Hall, Papanui, and in Linwood Park at the same time. Other Services Fcur services will be held in the Anglican Cathedral, at 7.40 a.m., 10 a.m., U a.m., and 7.30 p.m. The 11 a.m. service will be a choral Eucharist, when Elgar's "Ode to the Fallen" will be tvng. The preacher will be Canon A. H. Norris. A Toe H service will be held in the evening at 7 o'clock, at which Bishop West-Watson will preach. Requiem Mass, which will be attended by a parade of returned soldiers, will be celebrated in the Catholic Cathedral at 10 a.m.. Canon Charles Perry will conduct a service in St. Michael's Church at 9.30 a.m.

At Sumner, as well as the usual procession of returned soldiers, territorials, and representatives of local bodies, a citizens' memorial service will be held in the Town Hall at 11 a.m. The speaker will be the Mayor of the borough, Mr W. H. Nicholson. The New Brighton memorial service will be held at the Cenotaph if the day is fine. If it is wet, ihe service will be held in Joyland Theatre. The Mayor, Mr E. A. M. Leaver, will preside, and the speaker will be the Rev. K. Schollar.

The usual service will be held at the Memorial Shrine \n the grounds of the Christchurch Boys' High School. Mr Colin Miln, president of the Old Boys'. Association, will give the address. The service at Christ's College will be held in the chapel at 11 o'clock. It will be conducted by the chaplain, the Rev. O. Williams. The headmaster of St. Andrew's College, Mr J. B. Mawson, will address the boys at the school assembly this morning, and a parade will be held this afternoon. The Rev. E. C. Atkinson will conduct a memorial service at the Soldiers' Memorial, Halswell, at 2.30 p.m., and an address will be given by the Rev. A. Simmonds. The service for the borough of Riccarton will be held at the Wharenui School, commencing at 9.30 a.m. Mr H. S. S. Kyle, M.P., will preside, and tho Revs. R. de Lambert (Anglican), H. Ryan (Methodist), and J. A. Allan (Presbyterian) will take part.
