HARD-COURT TOURNEY. POSTPONED I FINALS TO BE PLAYED ON SATURDAY | The postponement of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's hardcourt championship and handicap tournament yesterday on account of the wet weather was particularly unfortunate as it necessitated the scratching of one of the strongest pairs in the mixed doubles, Miss E. Rudkin and D. I. Robertson. Robertson had to return to his home at Palmer ston North last evening, and will not be able to take part in the finals, which will now be played on Saturday. Miss S. Anderson and R. O. Pattinson will now receive a walk-over and will meet Miss N. Bishop and H. Dymond in the semi-final of the event. The ground staff at Wilding Park made strenuous efforts to have courts ready for play in the afternoon when, during the morning, there was a temporary improvement in the weather, but just when arrangements had been made to start matches at 2.0 there was further heavy ram, and play was abandoned for the day. An effort will be made to play off early rounds to-day and on Friday so as, to leave Saturday clear for the finals. INANGAHUA ASSOCIATION EASTER TOURNAMENT (BPISCIAL TO THE TEEBE.) REEFTON, April 23.
