FIELD TRIAL J. R. M'KENZIE CLP ! Tko Canterbury Gun Dog Club conducted i tfao field trial for the J. K. McKrtni# Cup on ilr McLeun'a property at Broomfi»W, Amberlcy, during the week-end. Grigg wera Sh« judges, and their awards were received well -by both competitors and spectators. TUo trial was won by C. V. llcHkath'* Labrador ch. Pompey F.X.C., with. W. B. ii. Irwin's springer, Paddy, second and 1). Mcßae'a springer, Lady Cornwall, third. \V. R. M. Irwin's Paddy worked ground, well in fur trial, flushed hia gams tad was steady to shot, retrieving in good »iyl» to hand. A. E. Seeker's Clumber Spaniel, Avondai* Judy, was under good control, found quickly, and dropped to shot, but spoilt her chances by a poor retrieve. Sho worked perfectly on feather, making a very difficult find in good stylo and retrieving well to hand.

J. Coffey's springer, Woolston Gun, wa* slow, failed to retrieve, ar.d was recalledF. Truscott's Labrador, Pleasant C bam pi ranged well, failed to find in difficult country, and gave much the same performance is tho feather section.

T. Bradsliaw's Cocker, Burnley Gucacr, worked cover well but failed to find, to tho feather trial he found quickly, *** steady to shot, and made a good retrieve. Ho ranged too freely in the feather trill, but after finding was steady to shot »cw found a difficult bird in good style. Ha delivered well to hand.

C. V. Mcßeath'a Labrador, ch P.T.C., ia a free ranger. Ho did not actually push out, but retrieved in hia osu*l good style. Ho put up a perfect if c*sj performance in the feather Section. X. Bradshaw's cocker, Erunlea worked busily in cover, but ran in to shot, and retrieved well. She fcroko to shot in the feather trial and iailfcd to deliver to hand. G. Hall's springer, Woolston Koci;, coalo bo faeier in his work but is very thorough. Ho failed to find in both sections and recalled.
