CHRISTCHURCH FIRE BOARD
ANNUAL MEETING LAST EVENING
The annual meeting of the Christchurch Fire Board was held last evening. There v/ere present:—Messrs T. M. Charters (chairman), T. H. Butterfield, E. Parlane, C. A. Cooper, G. C. Hill, K. W. Robinson, and E. H. Andrews.
The following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr T. M. Charters; deputychairman, Mr E. H. Andrews; executive, Messrs Charters, Andrews, and G. A. Cooper. Reporting on Fire Prevention week in the city, Superintendent C. C. Warner said that a special feature of the campaign was the brigade's visit to 25 schools with two decorated motors, where some 12,500 children were addressed by Foreman G. Barnes on •fire prevention and extinction. He was satisfied that the work done during that period would bear good results. Calls for Month Superintendent C. C. Warner reported that for the month, from March 7, 29 calls were received. Of those, 13 were fires in or on property in the city, eight for grass, hedge and rubbish fires, one chimney fire, four wire automatic false alarms, and three were for malicious false alarms. The board decided to offer for sale its North Richmond property (a vacant area), which it has held for some years.
