quarterly report of COL NCI L The activities for the last three months oE the council of the South Island Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Association, are reviewed in the council's first quarterly report for the year. The dates arranged for the shows of the Kaitangata and Clutha clubs, June 19 and 20 and June 28 and 29, respectively, says the report, have been granted by the council, while the Invercargill and North Canterbury clubs have also altered their show dates since the annual meeting to May 16, 17, and 18, and July 4 and 5 respectively. Affiliation was granted to the Canterbury Canary and Cage Bird Club and the Oamaru Canary and Cage Bird Specialist Club during January, the afiiliations to be endorsed at the next annual meeting. Only five clubs so far, the report states, have sent in lists of competent judges in their districts. The council approached the New Zealand Poultry Board for financial assistance for the shows, states the report, but, as no provision was made in the act, the board was unable to devote any money in that direction. The North Island Poultry Association did not favour the invitation that it should place on competition at its shows New Zealand championships on similar lines to the South Island Association, and therefore these championships will be competed for only at South Island shows.
