BOWLS Playing in the final of the Norton Shield competition last evening. R. Fenton and D. Page defeated E. Muxlow and W. T. Foster. Magistrate's Court At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr W. D. Gower, J.P., Patrick Joseph Hawkins, a second offender for drunkenness, was convicted and fined £l, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Harbour Light Theatre "Hide Out," a comedy-romance, starring Robert Montgomery and Maureen O'Sullivan, which will be screened at the Harbour Light Theatre this afternoon and evening and to-morrow evening, has two settings for the story. Commencing amongst the gangsters and racketeers of a big city, it transfers to the country, where, in a beautiful rural setting, much humour is introduced into the plot through Montgomery's ignorance of farnj life.. A Charlie Chase comedy, and Oddity, and a newsreel will also be shown. Maori Picnic A combined picnic of the Rapaki, Lyttelton, and Port Levy Maoris was held on Quail Island on Sunday afternoon. In spite of showery weather during part of the atternoon, a very enjoyable day was spent. The results of the sports programme were as follows: —Boys' senior championship: G. Gillies (20 points); girls' senior championship, M. Gillies (15 points): boys, junior, N. Gillies (16 points); girls, D. Tauwhare (12 points); women's tennis ball throwing, Miss L. Grennell; men, G. Tikao; putting the shot, H. Grennell. A treasure liunt was won by Mrs P. Tau and R. Gillies.
