TRAMPING

YOUTH HOSTEL ASSOCIATION At the last committee meeting of the Canterbury Regional Council of the Youth Hostel Association of New Zealand the reservation secretary reported that a few bookings had been made for the Peninsula hostels since Christmas. It was reported that a new hostel had been established at Holmes BayMrs McKay having kindly offered to lake the Youth Hostel Association trampers at the usual rates. There ■was room for 15 at this hostel. The Kumara Junction Hostel was unfortunately unable to continue on account of insufficient room. A further strong appeal was made Jo members, asking them to contribute towards the Sir Arthur Dobson memorial fund, as very little support had been given lately to this matter. Letters were received from the Scot- ■ irli Ramblers asking for particulars f>f the association, and enclosing a copy of the "Wayfarers' Calendar." The secretary reported having re--, plied, forwarding a copy of the handbook, and thanking the editor o£ the Ramblers' Year Book.
