ARMAGH STREET DAM
SUGGESTION TO LOWER LEVEL It is stated that the Christchurch Drainage Board, when it meets next week, will consider a proposal to lower by one foot the height of the temporary dam in the Avon at the Armagh street bridge. The proposal is that the dam should be left at that level for a month, so that the effect of the Hew experiment can be)gauged. Then if it is found that the level of the water is still too high it is likely that the dam will be lowered another 16 inches. The level would then be that permittea by legislation. —i
