LOCAL TORNADO IN N.S.W.
♦ HOUSE WRECKED AND ROOFS BLOWN OFF (Received February 5, 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 5. A wild tornado struck the coalmining township of Bellbird in northern coalfields to-day. One house was wrecked and the roofs ->f many more were blown off. Timber and iron were hurled into the streets. The inhabitants, terrified, rushed from their homes and were enveloped in dust and debris falling about them. The disturbance lasted only a few minutes, and at Cessnock, three miles away, there was nothing but a slight breeze.
