ASHBURTON COUNTY COUNCIL. WATER SHORTAGE. r pHE unprecedented growth of vege- ■*- tation in the water-races has caused serious shortage of water, and farmers are requested to clean their races in order that farmers below may receive very necessary supplies. Farmers who co-operate in this appeal will show a friendly spirit to their neighbours, as the necessity for abundant supplies was never so urgent. The present shortage is caused by unclean races, there being sufficient water in most of the main races. H. A. VEZEY, 8933 County Engineer.
