INCREASE IN TIMBER EXPORTS
FIGURES FOR WEST COAST FOR 1934 (srECIAL TO THE PRESS.) GREYMOUTH, February 5. The improvement in the timber trade on the West Coast was reflected in the exports from Greymouth during 1934, when nearly 8,000,000 feet more timber was exported than during the previous year. Coal showed a slight decrease and general cargo a slight increase. The respective totals were: Timber, 30,165,524 superficial feet compared with 22,243,658 feet in 1933, an increase of 7,921,866 feet; coal, 166,317 tons, compared with 174,864 tons, a decrease of 8547 tons; general cargo, 814 tons, compared with 679 tons, an increase of 134 tons.
