THE MAHENO ARRIVES The Maheno arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday morning from Melbourne, via southern ports, and sailed on Saturday night for Wellington, Bluff, Milford Sound, and Melbourne. THE NGAHAU The auxiliary scow Ngahau, which left Lyttelton about nine months ago for Auckland, has returned south and is engaged in transporting sheep from Banks Peninsula bays to Kaiapoi. KANNA TO LOAD GUANO FOR LYTTELTON The Union Company's steamer Kanna sailed on Friday from Auckland for Walpole- Island, via Noumea, to load guano. On her return she will discharge at Lyttelton, Timaru, and at either Dunedin or Bluff. IMPERIAL STAR The Blue Star Line's new motor-ship Imperial Star, which left Belfast in ballast for Auckland on January 3, sailed from Wfllemstad on January 16, according to cabled advice. The ship should reach Auckland on February 4 on her maiden trip to commence her Homeward loading.

PERSONAL Captain W. D. Archibald is now in command of the Abel Tasman. Mr V. Miller, previously third officer of the Kaimiro, has exchanged ships with Mr H..J. Kemp, who held a similar position in the Waipiata. Mr P. Menhennet has returned from holiday leave, and has rejoined the Rangatira as fourth engineer. Mr T. H. Downes is to join the Narbada in Wellington as third engineer, relieving Mr W. E. Sanders for holiday.
