QUARREL ABOUT LEG THEORY
■-_—♦.- ■ > NOTTS COMMITTEE* TO RESIGN EN BLOC BE-ELECTION POSSIBLE (UNITES PRESS ASSOCIATION—BS EXZCTBIO TEUtOEAPH—COPyBIOHT.) (Received January 20, 5.5 p.m.) ' LONDON, January 18. The Notts Cricket Club committee, after a meeting lasting two hours and a quarter, resolved to resign en bloc, but it expressed its willingness to carry on until a new committee is appointed. The resignations include those of Sir Julian Cahn and Mr A. W. Shelton, a former president, who was elected a life member of the committee for his services to the club. Mr Whitby said he thought that the old committee might be reelected, as the no-confidence vote was not necessarily in defence of any type of bowling, but was largely due to the committee's camouflage and secrecy. UNEXPECTEDLY EARLY PEACE MOVE SUGGESTIONS FOR CHOOSING NEW COMMITTEE (Received January 21, 1.50 a.m.) LONDON, January 19. There has been an unexpectedly early peace move in the Notts quarrel. Messrs Whitby and Woolley, representing the conveners of the meeting, visited the secretary, Mr Brown, and suggested that they, with Mr Adams, who seconded the no-confidence resolution, should meet three representatives of the committee, and that each side should nominate six candidates for the new committee. If the selected men were acceptable to both parties, they should be officially nominated at the annual meeting. Mr Brown agreed to convey the suggestion to the committee.
