CITIZENSHIP OF FREE STATE
AMENDING BILL BEFORE SENATE DUBLIN. January 17The Citizenship Bill was introduced in the Senate by Mr E. de Valera, who said it was important to define clearly who were Free State citizens because of the possibility of foreign treaties relating to their rights. A member of the Opposition, Mr S. L. Brown, K.C., declared that the Free State was powerless to abolish the status of British subjects inside or outside the Free State. The bill passed its second reading.
