CHILDREN'S SPORTS AT WAIKARI

The aauu.il Christmas party of the Wailcari Women's Institute was held this year on the Waikari Sports Grounds in ideul weather. There was a lurgo attendance o£ children, each of whom presented a gift to Father Christmas for the tree erected alongside the pavilion, er.d the gifts were afterwards forwarded to Christchurch for distribution. An enjoyable programme of gomes, competitions, and sports was arranged by the members of the institute, who also provided afternoon tea, ice-creams, and soft drinks for the children. There were some good entries in the competitions for decorated bicycles, perambulators, and tricycles, in which every competitor received a small Kitt- The winners of the different classes were Decorated bicycle, Teddy .Fi&ill, decorated tvicycU*, John Matherson*. most artistically decorated perambulator I Shona Masters; most original.
