MALVERN ELECTRIC POWER BOARD
Mr John Deans presided over a full attendance at the last meeting of the Malvern Electric Power Board. The secretary reported that the last two debentures of the £2OOO loan, 1933, had been taken by the Lyttelton Harbour Board. The chairman gave notice of motion to move at the next meeting of the board that £ 1000 of the supplementary loan, 1934, be raised at the maximum allowable rate of £3 15s per cent. The engineer-secretary," in his monthly report, stated that the Aylesbury line extension had been completed at the end of last month and inspected by the Public Works inspector while he was in the district. The inspection of lines occupied two days, and the principal matter requiring attention was tree trimming in various parts of the district. Line reconstruction work has been held up by continual poor pole deliveries, and the secretary was instructed to inform the suppliers' agents in Wellington that the board viewed with considerable concern the deliveries against outstanding orders during the last five months. A total of 23 defective gum poles on the board's lines and 13 on private lines have been replaced since the November meeting. A list of debtors for electricity received the attention of the board, and the secretary was instructed to notify the majority on the list that their premises would be disconnected if the arrears were not paid in full within seven days. Accounts totalling £lB5 chargeable to the power fund account and £57 chargeable to the loan account, were passed for payment.
