REEFTON . MAGISTRATE'S COURT \ (SPECIAL TO TEE PRESS.) REEFTON, December 22. Mr ,H. Morgan, S.M., presided over a sitting of the Magistrate's Court, when judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following civil cases:—J. W. Chalk and Company v. K. Newcombe, £2 19s 6d; E. V. Jones v. A. Freeman, £l2 10s; T. Dellaca v. N. Margotts. £1 10s Cricket At a special meeting of the Inangahua Cricket Sub-Association, the secretary was instructed to write to the West Coast Association accepting home and home matches and asking if two teams could play in Greymouth on the same day. It was decided that fixtures cease until January 6, with (he exception of the Reefton-Waratah match, already arranged. The winners of the Christmas competition were: H. Farrell 1, Miss J. Cleaver 2, and C. Daly (Greymouth) 3. HOKITIKA MAGISTRATE'S COURT (SrICtAL TO T«8 PRISS.) HOKITIKA, December 22. The following cases were dealt with at this week's sitting of the Magistrate's Court at Hokitika before Mr H. Morgan, S.M. G. Searle. who was charged with illegally conducting a goods service, was convicted and ordered to pay costs. Charged with permitting stock to wander, E. Treacy (Wainihinihi), A. S. Cunningham (Jacksons), and A. Griffen (Wainihinihi) were each fined 5s and ordered to pay costs 10s. Judgment for the plaintiff by default was given in the following civil cases:—L. Gooch v. R. L. Lloyd, £llO 15s lid (costs £G 9s): W. H. Stopfortb v. T. A. Howard, jun., £1 19s 6d (costs 8s). A first offender was fined 5s on a charge of being found drunk in a public place. W. Heinz, charged with failing to keep to the left, was fined 5s and ordered to pay costs £1 Os 6d. E. Becker, charged with failing to produce a driver's license, was fined 7s 6d and ordered to pay costs £1 0s 6d. W. J. Routhan pleaded guilty to a charge of permitting a person to stand on the running board of a motor-car and was ordered to pay costs. • S ' £' Br own e. licensee of the Dominion Hotel, was charged with opening his premises for the sale of liquor after hours, with exposing liquor for sale, and with selling. A man who was found on the premises pleaded not guilty.
