TRIP BY CANOE

♦ DOWN THE WAIMAKARIRI RIVER Several successful attempts at travelling down the Waimakariri river have been made in the past, and this week two members of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club, Messrs R. L. Hewitt and G. Doig, will undertake the enterprise. . They will set out in a single canoe at dawn to-morrow morning, probably from the Mount White station bridge. The distance to be travelled is 70 miles, and the trip will in all likelihood take two or three days.
