"PURSUANT to the provisions of Clause 12 of the Second Schedule of the Tramways Act, 1908, and of Section 2 of the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Act. 1926. as amended by the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Act. 193233, public notice is hereby given that it is the intention of the Christchurch Tramway Board to apply for an Order-in-Council authorising it to remove the tramline described below and to discontinue running services by tram-cars thereon. Within four weeks after the first publication of this notice any number of persons being not less than 5 per centum of the ratepayers whose names are inscribed in the ratepayers' roll of the Christchurch Tramway District, may by writing addressed to the Christchurch Tramway Board, demand that the question whether or not such Order should be applied for shall be submitted to the decision of the ratepayers by poll to be taken within four months of the delivery of such demand. The tram track proposed to be removed commences at the junction of tnc east side of Cathedral square, with Worcester street, thence along Worcester street and Linwood avenue to the junction of that avenue with Cashel street, also the track commencing at the junction of Linwood avenue and Worcester street, thence easterly along Worcester street, Rochester street, Gloucester street, to the Dallington bridge. Plans of the Tramway Track to be removed together with a draft of the Order-in-Council to be submitted to the Governor-General for approval are open for inspection at the office of the Board, Cathedral square, Christchurch.
