BRITISH OFFICERS TO GO ON STRIKE
♦ ABSURDLY LOW PAY ON CHINESE SHIPS (Received December 21, 9.30 p.m.) HONG KONG, December 21. The China Coast Officers' Guild is calling out its members employed on Chinese-owned coastal river vessels which are not observing the recognised scale of wages on December 29. Some 40 British officers on 12 ships are so far involved. Some Chinese companies are paying foreign officers absurdly low rates, captains receiving a typist's wages.
