RETAILING OF BUTTER

The master grocers of Wellington decided in committee on Tuesday night to co-operate with the dairy industry in an effort to eliminate price-cutting in butter. This decision was made at a meeting with representatives of farmers from the Wairarapa, Manawatu. Hawke's Bay. and Taranaki districts. Mr H. J. Barley, president of the Wellington Master Grocers' Federation, occupied the chair. The text of the motion carried was to-day released for publication. It is as follows: "That this large and representative meeting of master grocers, held in Wellington, is desirous of co-operating with representatives of the dairy industry to eliminate the present uneconomic system of marketing, and that a committee of master grocers bo appointed to meet representatives of the dairy farmers, with that object in view."
