DETECTIVE KILLED
GANGSTER INCIDENT IN CHICAGO (Received November 28, 7.5 p.m.) CHICAGO, November 27. Two Federal agents who were hunting the last remnants of the Dillinger gang were attacked by two gunmen in a motor-car on a suburban road. One was tentatively identified as George "Baby Face" Nelson, formerly Dillinger's lieutenant. In a furious exchange of gunfire one of the agents was killed and the other was seriously wounded. The gangsters escaped. The wounded agent took part in the shooting of Dillinger four months ago.
