CHARGE AGAINST CLERK
MISAPPROPRIATION ALLEGED (PItESS ASSOCIATION TELEGIIAM.) WANGANUI, November 28. Norman Leslie Tyler, a former clerk employed by the relief workers* department of the Waitotara' County Council, was charged to-day with the theft of £lO lis between June, 1933, and January, 1934, the property of the Waitotara Council, the theft of £2 10s on November 22, and of £2 3s on August 29, 1933. The charges arose out of the payment of insurance moneys by farmers who had relief workers under the "over the fence" scheme. Witnesses testified to paying accounts to the accused and instead of receiving an official receipt in some instances, the original account sent to them was stamped, as a receipt.
