The No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority has to make an important decision about the licensing of longdistance goods services, but before it can fcach its decision, its members must do some hard reading. When the authority visited various districts in its area, decisions were made in ail local cases, but through service applications were deferred to enable final submissions to be made in writing. This morning, when the authority mot, the chairman staled it would take more than a day to rend (hem all and therefore he adjourned the sittings. One of the applicants asked if they could add to the submissions, but the chairman declined fo allow it. He said the authority, having heard the evidence, couid have made its decision, but as the question or renewing or refusing licenses was of grave importance to operators, it had been decided to allow them to make final submissions. Seventeen operators sought renewal:' of licenses, and objections were offered by the Railways Board, four county councils, the Thames and Hamilton Carriers' Associations, the Thames Harbour Board, and the Northern Steam Ship Company.
