TORRENTIAL RAIN

PARTS OF QUEENSLAND IN FLOOD BRISBANE, November 23. Torrential rain has fallen over central and southern Queensland, causing flooded creeks in a number of districts. Storms in the Roma district yielded nearly four inches of rain in an hour, while in the Gladstone district 12 inches were recorded in an afternoon. Several houses were unroofed, and hail piled up to a height of 18 inches. Water was four feet over the railway line between Dalby and Bell. Robert Roberts, aged 21 years, was washed off his horse and drowned when attempting to cross a swollen stream.
