EMPIRE AIR ROUTES

ACCELERATED SCHEDULE FOR TRIP TO AUSTRALIA (BR.JTISB OFFICIAL WIEELB3S.) (Received November 23, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, November 22. The Secretary of State for Air, Lord Londonderry, speaking in the House of Lords, reviewed the progress in civil aviation and referred to the projected England to Australia service. He said that long before the Melbourne race plans were drawn up for an accelerated schedule between this country and Australia, nearly halving the schedule with which the service is to open. The authorities had also been aiming at similar accelerations in services to other Dominions. In due course the Government hoped to improve even on that programme. The object was to lay solid foundations and not to run up an edifice which would bo in danger of crumpling at the first breath of another economic blizzard, should we have the misfortune to encounter one.
